myLot Discussions| where the sidewalk ends: a special treat for children | | Where the Sidewalk ENDS is a series of poems designed to entertain children and adults alike, through humor. The illustrations are adorable. The writer of this book tells a series of stories through the use of poetry. They are not only entertaining, but humorous. I loved this book so much, I gave it to a friend as a gift for her children, to share with them these magnificent poems, and enjoy.
| | | childhood books | | what books did you read when you were a child? have you passed them along to your children?
for me, it was 'little house on the praries', which both of my daughters have read and the great canadian classic, 'anne of green gables' which we have just finished watching the trilogy of. what a great series! (i want to go to PEI now!!!)
| | Your Favorite Childrens Book? | | Remember those books teaching us to 'See Spot run' and those making us wonder what Ramona Quimby or Encyclopedia Brown were doing in school that day? I'm sure you're own childhood is full of wonderful books you treasure and remember fondly till this day. Mine will always be Shel Silverstein's collection of poems called Where the Sidewalk Ends. Robert Munsch's Love You Forever comes a close second. | |
| | If you found money on the sidewalk, what would you do? | | Hi everyone:
This question came to my mine, when I had found out that my grand daughter had found money on the school bus. She knew it wasn't hers, so when she got to school, she turned the money in, and she pretty much didn't think about it after than. Well, no one had come forward to claim it, so she got to keep it, and treated her mom to ice cream. So many tines, we as adults, don't think about doing what is right, as if wse need the money, we are sure going to take it and not think anything of it, unless we do have honesty, and trun it it in. It would be hard for me to not want to keep it either, but being a Christian, I know that it would be wrong to keep something that isn't mine. I am so proud of my grand daughter, as she certainly could have kept it, but my son and daughter in law have taught her and her brother what is right and wrong. I am sure they will both go far in this world, and I couldn't be more proud than I am of both of them right now. So, share your thoughts on this as it would be interesting what others would do in this situation. Happy mylotting to all.[em]happy[/em]
| | My neighbor shoveled my sidewalk yesterday! | | We had 4" of snow yesterday and it's headed towards another inch or two today. I was dreading the chore of shoveling the walk when I heard my neighbor fire up his snowblower. He told me to go back inside and get warm then proceeded to do his drive and walk, my walk, my other neighbor's then my neighbor's driveway! This brought back to mind how lucky I am to have such nice neighbors and how much good is in everyone's heart!Has something good happened to you recently? With all the bad news out there, let's take today to share some of the good things in life and how people have shown kindness to us in the past few days.[em]happy[/em] | |
| | Will you slow down if there is a sidewalk ahead? | | I have to cross the road on my way to work.(You cant imagine how i hate it.)Luckily, the palce where I live is just a small town and usually, there isnt much traffic. But during the rush hours, when are also my usual time to go across the road,it is a little busy.I really get annoyed because car drivers and bus drivers seem to pay no attention to the Sidewalk, which is supposed to help people cross the road safely. What makes me angrier is that some even sound the horn! They speed up instead of slowing down and let pedestrians go first. How indecent! There's a school nearby.I wish I could do something to change it,but I dont know how to start.I said to myself,I will slow down if there is a sidewalk ahead anytime after I have my own car one day.And I will also be careful not to splash water on pedestrians on rainy days.So pls be a civilized driver and help reduce the road accidents.
Thanks for reading through and your support is greatly appreciated.
| | | | would you pick up a penny if you saw one on the sidewalk? | | Some think pennies on the sidewalk are good luck signs, or gifts from angels, etc.
Some laugh at that mind thinking and wouldn't bother picking it up. But what should be significant about the penny, is the message that it gives us...."In God we trust." It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it when it is on the ground. Could the penny be truly a reminder from God to trust him in all things? Have we ever found a penny while we were in the midst of a crisis, or deeply troubled about things in our life? Is it possible that God drops a message right in front of us, telling us to trust him, right at the time when we need him? Pennies have become more important to me, I don't care who sees me picking it up.
