| | | The Giving Tree for every poet! | myLot Discussions| Neopet Giving Tree | | Someone sent me the link to this site, it has nothing to do with The Wishing Well or the Donation Tree. It is a group of people that swap things that are valued under 500 NP. If you collect things like Rotting Driftwood, Starry Dung or other cheap things, you can add your name to this list and swap stuff with other people. The list is big but it is very organized and I have made some really great friends from it.www.neopets.com/~OphellianYou can also see the list of people who are interested in receiving things by checking out this user page:http://www.neopets.com/~HamletDrake | |
| | Children Books!! | | Children books open up a world of dreams and creativity! Have you looked at any lately? I own several children books and writing a few of my own. My favorite is Mr Postman, with all the little opening letters and postcards that you can unfold during the read. I also like The Giving Tree, and feel nostalgic reading Where the Wild Things are. I know there are many more I have forgotten, but planning to explore them! What are your favorites, or ones you remember that gave you an impact? | |
| | Do You Give To Any Charities This Time Of Yr? | | I know we have many here who come from various backgrounds and lifestyles, as well as Financial backgrounds as well. But I was wondering with the Holidays here upon us, do you give to any Special type of charity this time of yr, or do you feel that it is a waste of time? Personally, when I can afford it, I Love to give back to the Community and will do it any way I can. I have given of my time and $$ more that I can remember for some things, and always trying to find New ways to help them out as well. I had to be in a Shelter this time of yr. back in the late 80s or early 90s so I can relate to being along over the Holidays, or not having enough to make ends meet. Usually I will donate some to our Church fund, and the Salvation Army, etc. as well as giving to the giving tree, Toys For Tots, etc. as well. I Love giving to others and knowing someones face will be lighting up a little brighter knowing someone was there to help them out along the way as well.Have you done so this yr. or do you feel it is not worth it, or one of those who will be hopefully getting some much needed help out there as well?~~TINA~~ | |
| | Nature's perfect chair | | I have to say that I am not sure if this was done on purpose or accident, but no matter it makes the perfect chair provided by Mother Nature herself, and I wonder if its something that broke in a storm or needed to come down and it happened while chopping it down or who knows, but when out on the trail it provides a very very nice place to sit and rest, all my kids have took turns sitting in it, and they loved it...
Its little things like this that can break a hike up for kids
Have you ever seen such a perfect chair in the middle of nature?Makes me think of the story the giving tree, when all it had left was a stump to give for someone to rest one.

| | Name a tree... | | Okay... with my advocacy to promote the love for trees and the uploading a tree here in mylot... i would just like to ask if any of you has ever done this?... have you ever given the tree or trees in your backyard a specific name?...We give names to out pets but i think trees are living creatures to that deserve one... i have encountered general tree names such as: Tree of Live, The Giving Tree, and The Tree with the Fruit of Knowledge of Good and Evil... i think trees deserve a much cooler name than these...In my case, i plan to plant a tree or two when i finally have a house of my own with a backyard big enough... I plan to name my first tree as Molly and the second one Athena...What do you think?... | |
| | Have you ever played Santa to a stranger? | | Hey folks...My daughter has been wanting a DS or DSI for 3yrs. now and just never been able to make her Christmas wish come true. She's been saving her walmart gift cards and finally had enough to get one but then she passed the giving tree at walmart and stopped to ponder for a second. Next thing we knew, she picked 3 tags and had us help her pick out the gifts for the 3 kids she chose. Needless to say, she didn't get her DSI which she was ok with cause she helped 3 kids have a Christmas they, otherwise, might not of had. Well, I was sitting here reading and responding to discussions a few nights ago, when I came across a story of a lady who so wanted to get her daughter some gift she really wanted but didn't have the funds to get her it. She posted how much the gift was and I knew I could help that lil' girl's Christmas wish come true. After playing Santa, with the help of several friends who are friends with her, I came to realize..'hey, why shouldn't Caroline get that DSI' I mean, yeah, I complain about her at times, but still..She is one awesome 11yr old who is so focused on her goals and what she wants in life. She's always giving, rarely taking. So, hubby and I scraped... | |

| | What are some books from your childhood? | | What books do you enjoy sharing with your children? I also teach pre-shool and share a lot of them with my class. The Giving Tree, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Mother Goose Poems, Green Eggs and Ham. Those are just a few. I don't have enough room to put them all. What are your favorites? | |
| | CHARITY | | Do you donate money or your time to charities? If so, which ones and how did you determine that you wanted to be involved with that organization. I do annually the giving tree at Christmas time, we will do Christmas shoeboxes that go over seas, we donate blood, our Church, we give to women shelters, girls & boy scouts of america. I'm sure there are more, but this is all that I can think of right now.
