| | Paranormal Tales; Do Share.. | | Hi All,Hoping you guys are doing fine. Care to share the most nerve-wrecking paranormal story/stories you have ever heard or encountered? For me, it would have to be stories on the road by motorists and drivers. The ones taking a 'ride' at their back-seats, the cab drivers being harassed into taking a customer that doesn't exist, the 'ghost rider' that seeks a race with a human rider and many more. What are yours to share?Disclaimer: Do share what you have to say on this discussion, irregardless whether you believe in the paranormal or not. I believe there are no right or wrong answers, and no proofs on the stories either, so it's up to your discretion. Let's read them and bring out your thoughts. Pure discussion without any malicious intent. Thanks, folks.. | |

| | Tales from the Bay (2) - Charges? Trials? Nah, let's just kill 'em | | Well America, you seem happy enough to remove habeus corpus from your justice system. You seem okay about using torture. What about your government targeting American citizens for assassination? The Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, told the House Intelligence Committee that the government has the right to kill Americans abroad. So is this the image of America which you want projecting onto the screens of the rest of the world: a country which believes that warrantless arrest, indefinite detention without trial, torture and death squads (that's how some will view this) are all perfectly acceptable? Is it, is it really? | |
| | Old Wive's Tales | | My mother-in-law says that when my daughter hits her head, I shouldn't let her sleep for at least 6 hours otherwise, she might go unconsience (not sure if that's spelled right) I have never heard this before. Was wondering if this is an old wive's tale or medically correct??? | |
| | Tall tales your grandparents or parents used to tell you | | My Nanna never had a phone in her house so sometimes we would just pop round, my mum was the sort of mum who never put our art work up in the house when we were young so we used to take it to my Nanna's and she used to put it up in her wallway. One day we just popped in and the art work wasn't up!!! I asked where it was and she said that she had taken them down to dust and hadn't put them back up yet!! Being at primary school I swallowed it. But thinking back I think that was a lovely tale to say why they weren't up on the wall.Tell and share with all of us your tall tales please | |
| | | Tales from the bay (1) - Kafka goes to Washington | | The US government has decreed that 47 inmates at Guantanamo are: "Too dangerous to be released, but the evidence against them is not strong enough to stand up in a US court of law." So what do they propose for these people? A life of indefinite detention without any charges ever being brought against them.A despot's wet-dream, this legalistic paradox could surely only have been crafted by Joseph Heller; but no, this is the US Department of Justice speaking, not Doc Daneeka. And it's not Yossarian who stands staring numbly into a reality disconnect, it's you, the American people. That's right, YOU. Each and every one of you face the possibilty of being sucked into this spiralling vortex of insanity; never to be seen again. Your executive branch of government already has the power to label anyone they like as an 'enemy combatant'. And once they pin this little star on you, that's it, poof! You're gone. This is the sort of thing which Hitler, Stalin and Mao would have been proud of.The language of dictatorship has become the voice of America. | |
