| Shel Silverstein | | I loved Shel Silverstein's poems when I was a kid. Some of my favorite of his poems are Overdues, Sarah Cynthia Stout, I'm Not Going to School Today, Backward Bill, Ladies First, and The Unicorn. What are some of your favorites? | |
| | Colors - by Shel Silverstein | | My skin is kind of sort of brownish
Pinkish yellowish white.
My eyes are grayish blueish green,
But I'm told they look orange in the night.
My hair is reddish blondish brown,
But it's silver when it's wet.
And all the colors I am inside
Have not been invented yet.I thought this was a cute poem and wanted others to read it. Hope you enjoy the message. | |
| | Shel Silverstein | | I still have four of these books from when I was a child and still love the poems. I now read them to my nephews and they love them also. I was wondering how many of you had any of theses books when you were younger and if you have any of them for your children? | |

| Children Books!! | | Children books open up a world of dreams and creativity! Have you looked at any lately? I own several children books and writing a few of my own. My favorite is Mr Postman, with all the little opening letters and postcards that you can unfold during the read. I also like the Giving Tree, and feel nostalgic reading Where the Wild Things are. I know there are many more I have forgotten, but planning to explore them! What are your favorites, or ones you remember that gave you an impact? | |
| | What's your favorite children's book? | | What's your favorite children's book/s? Mine would be "The Missing Piece" and the "Missing Piece Meets the Big O", both by Shel Silverstein, and McBratney's "Guess How Much I Love You". I was already an adult when I got to read all the books I mentioned but nonetheless the books target readers of all ages. I don't have kids yet but when I do, I'll certainly give them copies of these books. How about you guys? Share your favorite children's book. | |

| Your Favorite Childrens Book? | | Remember those books teaching us to 'See Spot run' and those making us wonder what Ramona Quimby or Encyclopedia Brown were doing in school that day? I'm sure you're own childhood is full of wonderful books you treasure and remember fondly till this day. Mine will always be Shel Silverstein's collection of poems called Where the Sidewalk Ends. Robert Munsch's Love You Forever comes a close second. | |
| | | Books for Babies | | I have a son who is almost 8 months old. Everywhere I go, there's someone telling me how important it is to read to him. I agree that it's important. I'm a very avid reader, and I want him to love it as much as I do. I'm at a bit of a loss as to which books to get for him though. I didn't read kid's books as a child: the first books I remember reading were my father's horror novels that I first start pulling off his bookshelf when I was about four years old. I want my son to experience childhood, including books for children, but I have no idea which ones he will enjoy, or which ones are good for his development. When I go to the store, I see shelf after shelf of tie-in books for kids from Disney movies, children's tv shows, etc. I don't even have a clue where to start!Does anyone have any recommendations of good books to read to a baby? | |
