What is your favorite Emily Dickinson poem?
Emily Dickinson is my favorite poet. Back in school, a friend sent me an Emily Dickinson poem that I really connected with. Since then, I have been an Emily Dickinson admirer. What is your favorite Emily Dickinson poem?
So Cold Inside...
It seems the older I get, the harder it becomes to express any emotion except indifference. I still FEEL things, but I have this outer shell I present to the world at large to keep it away, to keep my own self safely locked away in a place where it doesn't hurt quite so bad.At least, that is what I tell myself. But it still hurts...I just try to fool everyone (myself included) that it doesn't.WINTER OF THE HEART[i]"Inside my soul is freezing rain Waiting for the sun to shine on me again I've never felt this way before It's a cold Winter of the heartSeems all I knew is now untrue So much I thought that I could do Now lies before me, broken And I don't know where to startTo mend this broken life of mine To stop and try to find the time To reach out to the ones I love And show them that I careBut this frozen heart inside of me It just won't seem to let me be I hide inside this life I live And gaze a distant stareI think of how it used to be I felt so open, wild and free But growing old has chained my soul And left me standing numbSo quiet, seeming unaware Of all around, as if I care No more of what befalls my life My voice...
Are you Nobody or Somebody?
I was inspired by Emily Dickinson's poem "Im Nobody! Who are you?"..I would like to share it with you: I'm Nobody! Who are you? Are you - Nobody - too? Then there's a pair of us? Don't tell! They'd banish us - you know! How dreary-to be-Somebody! How public-like a Frog - To tell your name - the livelong June To an admiring Bog!So there, do you consider yourself as a nobody or a somebody?
Do You Still Buy Yourself Gumballs Out Of The Machine?
Do you? Do you pretend it's for your kids? Do you get yourself one while buying them one?Have you ever stood and waited for people to pass through the vestibule so you could buy your gum in secret?I admit, I do it. I just like them! What's your favorite kind? I like red because its the same colour as my mouth. Once I had a green one and went to a store and they looked at me funny.I wasn't sure why until I got back to my car. In the rearview mirror, I saw my green mouth.I don't like white or yellow though. Those flavours just don't appeal to me.
Poetry, can anyone translate this poem? pls...
Hello, poetry lovers can anyone help me translate this poem. Im trying to help my niece. thanks!Poem 167 by Emily Dickinson TO learn the transport by the pain, As blind men learn the sun;To die of thirst, suspecting That brooks in meadows run;- To stay the homesick, homesick feet Upon a foreign shore Haunted by native lands, the while, And blue, beloved air- - This is the sovereign anguish, This, the signal woe! These are the patient laureates Whose voices, trained below, - Ascend in ceaseless carol, Inaudible, indeed, To us, the duller scholars Of the mysterious bard! ========================================Discusses, I think of the 2 senses, sight or a lack of it (first stanza), hearing (3rd stanza & 4th stanza).. What do you people thinks, pls share. thanks!
Are you Nobody??
I'm Nobody! Who are you? Are you -- Nobody -- too? Then there's a pair of us? Don't tell! they'd advertise -- you know!Friendship is a bliss.
What is your most favorite poem?
This poem is especially dedicated for my one and only true love. I was the author of this & this was an entry to the World-wide on-line poetry contest which qualifies to the semi-finals and advances to the finals. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Uncertain Memories of the past keeps taunting you But dont you worry co'z i'm here for you I'll do my part to wash away your tears So trust me my darling and have no fears. If you would be able to give me a chance To ease all the pains you felt is my assurance A heartfelt intention is what i always mention But still your in doubt so my heart flouts into portion. If you only believe that my love won't deceive I'll show you the reasons why my love should lead Many people dissuade me but i never heed co'z Deep inside i think upbeat not to make your heart bleed. After knowing my astonishing factual emotions You told me to stop this feeling co'z it must not go on But i never turned uncertain co'z my love will still remain Certainly i say you're my true love and hope it'll never turn invain. Has anyone read An Arsonists Guide to Writers Homes in New England?
I finished it yesterday coincidentally on Emily Dickinson's birthday which is ironic because the story centers on the burning on Emily Dickinson's house and all the fallout afterwards. I didn't think I would like it as I'm not much of a fan of violence but the narrator is a redeemable bumbler (as he perpetually calls himself). As I have bumbled a time or two in my life, I can relate. Have you read this book? What did you think of it?
Who's your favorite author?
Many like and love to read books. Of course the stories in books are created by authors. People just like you and me who were given the ability to express thier imagination and aspirations through writing. Who's your favorite author/s?Well, mine is Paulo Coelho, Bob Ong, Mitch Albom, Emily Dickinson and Stephenie Meyer
I hope you're doing okay
I don't know how else to reach you other than posting something here on the chance you'll come online and read it... but I hope you're doing okay. I think about you a lot, and I worry about you. I miss you, but more than that, I hope your days are okay. I figure each one of these days that passes is one less day of this to endure and one day closer we are to a time where we'd be together again. Check this out... I'm going to quote Emily Dickinson... "Hope is the thing with feathers... That perches in the soul... And sings the tune without the words... And never stops at all..."I have hope, and I remain hopeful.
